Developing a new business starts by building an alternative value proposition over an existing portfolio, although it might require the development of new features. This is followed by quantifying and qualifying the opportunity, pitching it to senior management, obtaining resources, engaging with partners, and executing through the enablement and the engagement of internal and external organisational resources.
There are significant risks in that process, from failing to meet the market's needs because resources were not initially identified or secured, not correctly balancing long term strategy with the need to report more immediate results. Also, the general need to partner outside of our own organisation, even industry, amplifies the risks, and creates new ones, like the need to manage the differences in business models and sales cycles.
If not properly handled, all of the above can ultimately lead to becoming an overlay to the entire organisation, as well as to an organisational burnout.
Political Technology helps mitigate and manage those risks through an actual hands-on expertise obtained in the creation and launch of new businesses in large corporations.
